Hopefully, this development will bring a resolution in the Hudson family murders.

William Balfour, 27, the husband of Julia Hudson, Jennifer Hudson’s sister, was taken into custody in Chicago and will be charged with three counts of homicide. He has been detained at the Stateville Correction Center in Illinois on charges stemming from a nine-year-old parole violation. Initially, Balfour was only cited as a “person of interest” in the Hudson family murders.

The October 24 shootings of Jennifer Hudson’s mother and brother were followed by a three-day search for seven-year-old Julian King, Hudson’s nephew and Balfour’s step-son. The boy’s body was found in an abandoned vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.

Police have confirmed that the body of a young boy found in the backseat of the stolen SUV belonging to Jason Hudson, is that of 7-year-old Julian King, Jennifer Hudson’s nephew who has been missing since last Friday.  The Chicago Tribune reported that the boy was shot several times.  William Balfour, the primary suspect, will have his clothing tested for gunshot residue.  Here’s the report from the Chicago Tribune:

“The body was found in the back seat of the white Chevrolet Suburban police were looking for in their search for 7-year-old Julian King, three days after Jennifer Hudson’s mother and brother were found shot to death in the mother’s house in Englewood.

Law enforcement sources said that the boy was shot multiple times in the back of the vehicle.  Police are testing the clothing of a man in custody for gunshot residue.

It was found by a 75-year-old who lives on the block, John Louden.  He said he has lived on the block for 18 years and worried about people selling drugs in the abandoned building behind it.  He saw the SUV while walking his dog.  After a double-take, he realized the license plate matched the one police were looking for.

“I didn’t look in there.  I didn’t touch it.  I knew it was a strange vehicle,” Louden said.  He said police showed up in about five minutes after his wife called them.  They discovered the child inside.  The body was removed and the SUV was towed away for evidence processing.”

The Tribune revealed details about William Balfour’s arrest.  His girlfriend has already contradicted his alibi:

“Balfour has denied involvement in the killings or the disappearance of the boy.  But at some point, Balfour stopped talking to authorities.  On Sunday morning, Balfour was transferred to a state facility after officials said he violated conditions of parole for a 1999 conviction for attempted murder.  On Sunday, Illinois Department of Corrections spokeswoman Januari Smith said Balfour violated his parole because he is a suspect in the slayings and the boy’s disappearance.  According to law-enforcement sources, Balfour’s alibi the day of the killings has been contradicted by his girlfriend.”

Reports said that the boy was shot multiple times including one in the head.  What kind of monster can do that to a helpless kid?  The boy didn’t do anything.  He was just a victim of a tragic series of events culminating in this horrible outcome.  I really hope that whoever did this receives the rightful punishment he deserves.  Our sincerest condolences to the Hudson family.

Jennifer Hudson is offering a $100,000 reward for the safe return of her nephew Julian King who has been missing since last Friday after the fatal shooting of the actress’ mother and brother in their Chicago home.  The AP reports:

“In a statement issued Sunday evening from publicist Lisa Kasteler, Jennifer Hudson appealed to the public for its help, offering the reward and asking that any information be given to Chicago police.  “Jennifer and her family appreciate the enormous amount of love, support and prayers they have received while she and her family try to cope with this tragedy and continue the search for Julian,” the statement said.  Chicago police ramped up search efforts for Julian around the Englewood neighborhood, where Hudson grew up, and transferred custody of a “person of interest” in the killings to state authorities.  “Detectives are working 24 hours on this case,” said Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond.  “There’s a lot of forensic evidence.  We have to work the evidence and try to solve this case.  Most importantly, we want to find the child.”

Authorities believe that Julian might have been taken across state lines and the FBI was called in and is now involved in the investigation. The murder suspect, William Balfour, is under custody but is refusing to cooperate with the authorities.

Please take a look at the gallery below and if you have any information, please do inform the authorities.  Let’s help the singer out.

The following excerpt is from Jennifer’s MySpace page and blog:

“Thank You All.  Thank you all for your prayers and your calls.  Please keep praying for our family and that we get Julian king back home safely.  If anyone has any information about his whereabouts please contact the authorities immediately.  Here is a picture of Julian and what he was last seen wearing.  Once again thank you all for being there for us through this tough time.”

The police have apprehended a suspect, William Balfour, the estranged husband of Julia Hudson (Jennifer’s sister).  He is the primary suspect in the shooting deaths of Darnell Hudson (Jennifer’s mother) and Jason Hudson (brother).  Jennifer’s seven-year-old nephew Julian King is still missing.  He has not been seen since the day of the shootings and police are passing out flyers with pictures of the boy.  They are concentrating their efforts in the south side of Chicago.

The Chicago PD stated that they believe an “ongoing domestic dispute” between Balfour and Julia Hudson could be the reason behind the killings and kidnapping.
